On March 27, 2023 the Luton DART officially starts its public operation. Passengers travelling to London Luton Airport from London St. Pancras International rail station will be able to cover the last leg of their journey on the new automated people mover Cable Liner® from Doppelmayr. As a result of this new transport link, the trip from the central London to the international airport will take just 32 minutes on the fastest trains.
The Doppelmayr Group has a large number of similar reference projects to its name. In the UK, Luton is now the second airport that has placed its trust in the expertise of the global market leader. The Air Rail Link in Birmingham has been operating since 2003. In this latest project, Doppelmayr Cable Car will be focusing a special emphasis on value creation for the local area. The partnership with schools and colleges in Luton will be particularly important during the implementation phase. Local businesses and young people are to be involved during construction of the Luton DART. The installation work is due to start in 2019 and the system will open for public service in 2021.
Doppelmayr Cable Car (DCC), which is part of the Doppelmayr Group, has been awarded the contract to build an automated people mover (APM) system in Moscow, Russia. In addition to the implementation of the Cable Liner® Double Shuttle, DCC has been selected to operate the installation for 15 years. By 2018, DCC will have set another milestone in its company history, this time in Moscow.
